POWERS

Latias has the ability to bend light around herself to produce several different effects. One is the ability to turn invisible, which will usually fool most people, but if you look closely, you'll be able to see a vague patch of air that wavers not unlike waves of heat. The other most commonly used light refraction technique is to create illusions, usually that of a human. When she does this, she may appear human, but she's still a pokemon, and is also completely mute. Addtionally, she is much stronger when she is with a Latios, though she can supplement her power with a Soul Dew. Also, as long as she has a Soul Dew in her possession, she can turn truly human, just like the other legends.

PERSONALITY

Latias is cheerful, optimistic, loyal and nice, almost to a fault. She always looks on the bright side and it's hard for her to stay sad for long. She truly cares for her friends, though will stick her neck out for anyone. She really wants to protect people and will always try her best to do so. She can be somewhat overexcitable and will sometimes jump to conclusions. She's very perceptive in matters of the heart in regards to other people, but is terribly naive when it's in relation to herself. She's really quite naive in most respects and has no problem with asking questions.

Ever since her brother sacrificed himself to save Alto Mare, Latias has tried to be more like him so that she could protect the town on her own. She really misses him and can get rather emotional whenever he's brought up, even though it's been a few years since he died.

*Note: Latias is basically from movie 5 canon, with one difference; that part at the end, where the other latis showed up, never happened. So prior to coming to the island, Latias had no idea there were others like her. Also, it's been about two or three years since the events of the movie, so Latias has changed a bit, mostly in that she's learned to protect herself and stay out of danger.

LIKES

Making friends, being helpful, Latios, exploring, zooming around the island, humans, gardens, water, the Soul Dew, shiny things, sweet food, turning human, poofy skirts, glomping people, playing matchmaker, reading shoujo manga, being invisible.

DISLIKES

Mean people, Team Rocket, not understanding things, feeling weak, not being able to help, worrying, people yelling at each other, sour food, island weirdness, hurting people, feeling awkward, not being able to draw.

*Latias sat on a rock next to a river, absently dipping her hands/paws in the water. Her thoughts were preoccupied with thoughts of her recent attempt to turn human. She could think of plenty of reasons why she couldn't do it; maybe she wasn't doing it right, maybe she wasn't concentrating hard enough, or maybe she just wasn't good enough. She wasn't one of a kind like them, as Arceus had told her there were whole flocks of others like her*

Maybe. . . maybe I'm just not like them. . . *and as she said it aloud, she knew that was the reason why. She just must not be a true legend like them, and so, just like other normal pokemon, she couldn't just wish herself human*

*And suddenly, all in a burst, it came to her. There was a way for her to make herself stronger and she had access to it on the island. She quickly shot into the sky, aimed herself towards the other side of the island and zoomed over, coming to a stop in front of an enormous tree*

Hey guys! Anybody home~? *she shouted this up at the branches and slowly, a whole pack of Sentrets popped up out of the foliage*

Latias! Latias is back! *they called this out to each other and scampered down the tree, crowding around her. One raised itself up on its tail and waved its little paws frantically to get her attention* D'you want to play tag again? Or hide and go seek? :D

Not today, guys, I actually need something from you! Remember that shiny thing I asked you all to hold on to for me? Can you bring it down, please?

The shiny? Sure, I'll bring it to you right away! *the Sentret suddenly took off up the tree and dissappeared into a hollow inside it. It reappeared gripping a bluish orb that it could only barely hold on to. Latias zoomed on up to it and took the orb out of its tiny paws*

Thanks for holding on to it for me! It's kinda hard for me to hold on to, but I think I need it now.

I found some string to go through the hole in it so you could wear it around your neck if you want to! *the Sentret hopped back up on to its tail excitedly*

Oooh, that would be great! *Sentret jumped down into the hollow and emerged with a length of cord. Latias carefully threaded it through the hole in the orb and Sentret jumped on to her back to tie it around her neck*

That's perfect! Thank you so much, I'll see you all again soon! *and she took off into the air, waving goodbye to all the Sentrets. She zoomed over to that same rock by the river, landed on it and examined the sphere around her neck*

*it was the Soul Dew that had come out of the portal rock Rayquaza had given her a few weeks ago. She knew it wasn't her Soul Dew, because hers didn't have that tiny hole in it. But all the same, when she held it, it had made her feel stronger, like she could do anything. If there was a way for her to become human, surely the power in the Soul Dew was the way to do it*

*She took a deep breath and visualized how she wanted to look. Then she clenched her eyes closed tight and wished as hard as she could. She started to shimmer a bit, and with a resounding crack the light engulfed her*

*when it faded, she now appeared completely human. Truthfully, the same effect could be made through clever light refraction, but Latias knew that without a doubt, she was truly human now. She looked down at herself happily and noted that the Soul Dew was fastened to the front of her shirt like a brooch. Randomly, she swayed her hips side to side like a hula dancer on speed, apparently delighted*

Swish, swish~ Haha, skirts are fun! :D

Also, Latias cannot turn human without the Soul Dew, so from now on she'll probably be wearing it around her neck (see icon for reference). And also, mun ♥ Sentrets~ :3]

*Latias wanders the forests aimlessly, trying to think of some way to heal Dialga and Palkia that wouldn't end up with Cresselia completely drained. She could try to heal Cresselia while she used Lunar Dance, sure, but what if that didn't work?*

*Eventually, she ends up at the foothills of the mountains. She's so absorbed in her thoughts that she doesn't notice the Froslass until she almost knocks her down*

Oh! I'm so sorry, are you alright? *Latias looks down at the Froslass curiously*

Err, yes, I believe so! *Froslass looks a little shaken and quite preoccupied. She fiddles with the ribbon around her middle frequently*

Sorry, I'm just really worried. . . you see, two of my friends are really hurt, and I can't think of a way to heal them without letting another friend drain herself to do it! It's quite a predicament :\ *Latias needs someone to vent to and well, Froslass is there!*

Err, well, I'm afraid I'm not much of a healer myself. . . *Froslass' face falls a bit when she sees how dissappointed Latias is* . . . But I might know of something that could help?

Ehhh?! Really? 8D

*Froslass nods and floats off towards a large clearing at the base of the mountains. There is a large pile of assorted items there, most of which are things like Star Pieces, fossils, elemental stones and Shards, basically the contents of a person's bag after a trip to the Underground. Froslass digs around in the pile a bit before coming back with a handfull of pale yellow crystalline items*

A few of my, uh, colleagues brought these to our Master a while ago, but he didn't really want them, so I suppose you could have them! They should heal your friends some. . .

Ohmigosh, really?! 8D Thank you! *and Froslass is the target of one of Latias' tackle-hugs! She yelps a bit at the sudden contact and looks a little dazed when Latias lets go* Alright, I gotta go tell my friend! Thanks again, see you later! *and off she zooms!*

*Froslass just hovers there a moment, blinking. Out of the shadows, a Gengar appears and swaggers up to her*

You do know that you just helped her to heal the guys Master fought, right?

*she blanches* . . . Alright, how much is it gonna cost for you not to mention it to him?

Three months service and you have to not bitch at me for a week >:]
